It is designed to impart 3 learning outcomes:

Yes. At least 1 AI tool will be chosen and used during the program. The specific tool and its nature of usage would depend on the problem being solved by your child during the program.

Depends. If your child chooses a problem statement that requires development of software (be it mobile apps, websites or agents), then the usage of an appropriately-chosen AI tool will be demonstrated and guided through the program. Please note that your child may also choose a non-software problem statement, in which case coding will not be emphasized. For instance, your child may be interested in creating content (e.g. a story, a book, an audio podcast, a video clip) that does not require coding.

Children are getting exposed to AI in the usage of everyday services that capture and leverage the data children share about themselves and their families. Almost always, they are not aware of what is being shared and the impact it has on their own futures. Rather than stumbling through life, especially in their usage of digital services, this program is designed to make them aware and give them the confidence required to make the best use of AI.

The structured part of the curriculum concentrates on AI & Digital Literacy. Usually, this would occupy the first hour of every week's class using a combination of prepared content as well as dynamic activities. In the second hour of the weekly class, guidance and personalized help is provided for each child to make progress in their project work. At the end of the program, every child is expected to present their project to all participants in the program and their families.

The problem statement will need to be chosen by each child. It can range from the creative (e.g. creating content) to the programmatic (e.g. software application). The child is welcome to choose a problem from their everyday life - e.g. from school, from extra-curricular activities or from personal experiences. We will work with the child to arrive at a version of the problem statement that can be meaningfully solved in the time period of this program. If a child is not able to decide on a suitable problem statement, we will suggest some options.

Every child will need a laptop during the weekly classes. At times, they may choose to work during non-class hours as well, in which case laptop access may be required then too. Additionally, for specific usage of AI tools, subscriptions or paid credits of those AI tools may be needed. These will be communicated as soon as we know more following discussions with the child.

No. The program is designed to delve into the technical aspects of digital services so that young learners are armed with the intuition behind widely prevalent instances of AI. This program is not designed to provide training from a legal or safety perspective.

Every child will be working on his / her own laptop. That laptop is expected to have accounts required for access to specific services. There is no need to share accounts with anybody else, and nor will the laptops be asked to be shared with anybody else, peer or instructor.

The usage of the laptop is towards exploring specific AI tools for solving problems chosen after mutual discussions with the instructors. There is no age-inappropriate content that the program will be sharing or asking students to explore. Parents are requested to ensure that the laptops themselves and the accounts within are having the appropriate settings enabled to avoid age-inappropriate content.

During weekly classes, about 1 hour every week. Based on the problem statements chosen by the child, additional laptop usage may entail more screen time, as needed by the child.

Every child in the program is expected to have a healthy curiosity about the digital world around them. A laptop is necessary to get the best from this course. No prior usage of social media, digital services, or AI tools is expected or required.
